Did you know Apple will give you a Lightning cable for £8?

Am I the only one that didn't realise that Apple would exchange any knock-off Lightning cable for a real one if you pay £8?

I've got two or three that haven't worked since iOS 7, and I'm not paying £15 to replace each one. £8 is a bit more realistic, though. Might wander in with a few and see what the state of play is.

Has anyone taken advantage of this yet?

@theiBlog Yes, but you can only get one for each iOS device you own. If you want to change 3, then, you'll need to take in 3 devices.

Cheers Killian.

Update 2

So it turns out that this wasn't as clear as we firs thought. Apple will exchange 3rd-party USB plug adapters, but NOT Lightning cables.

Want to downgrade from iOS 7? Tough.

If you've upgraded to iOS 7 and don't like it, then *tough!*

Bad news this evening for anyone hoping to downgrade from iOS 7 to a lower firmware. It appears that Apple is no longer signing iOS 6.1.3 and 6.1.4 for a majority of its devices, effectively terminating their ability to downgrade. Ruh-roh.

Apple's iPhone 5s Pro

Robert Agcaoili on the iPhone 5s

Of course, most of the nerds will go for the 5s as most of us tend to choose the above average Mac as our daily computer. But for "normal" people out there, they don't need a fingerprint scanner, dual flash camera, a 64-bit processor before apps are even optimized for it yet — just as most users don't need a Retina display laptop.

Nerd side note: This may be the first iPhone I might skip out on since the original was released. While I am still impressed by the technology added to the 5s, the iPhone 5 honestly feels as solid to me as the day I got it.

Of course while I say this now, I am also known to be weak in the presence of shiny (gold) toys.

Sounds rather like me, doesn't it?

Still, the point stands - Most people will probably buy the 5c, with the rest of us picking up the 5s.

Not me though. Oooh no.

Did you jailbreak today?

With the release of an untethered iOS 6.x jailbreak today, I'm curious just how many people are still jailbreaking these days.

Tell me whether you've jailbroken or not in the comments below, and if so, why?

I'm hoping this will make for some interesting reading.
